Revision of Theory

Postby Zohal99 » Wed Apr 22, 2020 6:09 pm

Hi, what are effective ways to revise the key concepts/theory for the science section? Particularly for Physics.

I am at the point of practicing Section 3 questions, and I find sometimes my mind slips with key formulas/concepts that would really help with answering the questions better. Yet, there is a lot of content and I have a lot of notes, so I feel intimated to revise them everyday.

Any tips on effective daily revision would be much appreciated! :D

Even if you do not feel ready, ideally you would spend 2/3rds of your time with GAMSAT-level problem-based learning as the real exam approaches. Of course, "mind slips" are normal when you begin and will dissipate with practice, repetition.

“I have a lot of notes”: This really needs repair. “All the content” is meant for books, not notes. Notes are supposed to be distilled to the essentials and they should be so brief that it is easy to read them from the beginning several times per week. More specific advice: https://www.gamsat-prep.com/gamsat-stud ... onal-notes

The Physics videos on gamsat-prep.com cover all essential concepts in less that 7 hours. You should consider one last viewing while taking very brief notes.

You may find the explanatory video and the list of GAMSAT Physics equations useful (some students print the page and leave it in their workspace): https://www.gamsat-prep.com/section3-ph ... mula-list/

Aside from the above, the central focus should be the completion of ACER’s 5 eBooks and taking brief notes while viewing the step-by-step worked solutions (https://www.youtube.com/user/GoldStanda ... shelf_id=2); if you have time, add either the 5 online GS exams or the 10 HEAPS exams (https://www.gamsat-prep.com/). Your objective is not necessarily to complete 15+ exams but rather to have a systematic process of GAMSAT-level practice, careful examination of worked solutions with brief note-taking, and an active reading of notes (from the start) several times per week (if you are an auditory learning, read your notes into MP3s).

We will be releasing a free online GAMSAT practice test for the May/June exam later this week and we will be releasing 2 videos specific to the new exam in the days to come. Good luck!
