RE HEAPS test 1

Hi,

Just a bit confused with question 42 regarding bacterial cell growth I have checked both the online video webinar (https://www.members.gamsat-prep.com/_me ... =195401337)
and the HEAPS1 answers document and video and im still unsure. i can see how the answer is B but why is it not D? one video explains why its not D but the other video has confused me and the answers are a little ambiguous as they say 42 B but then state
"The rate is highest between hour 20 and 30, but the numbers are far higher between hours 30 and 40 for answer choice D."

I get that the rate is highest between hour 20 and 30 as it has the steepest slope but arent
the numbers higher between hour 20 and 30 as well as they go from around 10x10^7 to around 90x10^7 (80x10^7 difference) whereas from hour 30 - 40 they go from around 90x10^7 to around 110 x10^7 (difference of 20x10^7).

Not sure what im missing.. TIA

You are not missing anything, your analysis was correct. The difference is the letter "s" and so perhaps it could have been stated a bit more clearly in the video.

Actually, the difference is indeed higher but the numbers are lower. Number (singular) would have referred to the difference, but numbers (plural) was meant to refer to the values used to calculate the difference. As mentioned above, it could have been stated more clearly.

As a comparison as to how a similar graph can end up with a different result, be sure to try HEAPS-5, Questions 90-91. Keep up the good work!
