Sorry,my background is Chinese ,so more serious about the details.
I don't really wanna make mistakes at the beginning.
The formula Acid-Base Neutralization Type
2HCL(l)+BA(OH)2(aq)

My question is why there is liquid of HCl,otherwise an(aq)

I understand that when you are starting, everything seems important. But this detail that you are looking at, is not the type of question that would be on the GAMSAT. You will notice this once you do the chapter review questions and then later some practice tests.

But to answer your question:

2HCL(l)+BA(OH)2(aq)

means that the liquid (l) form of HCl was used in the reaction which is different from the aqueous (aq) form of HCl. Ions and aqueous solutions will be discussed in Chapter 5 Solubility.

Hi there,

Everything is new for me. I mean in English version.

But I’m good at Science when I was year 12.

So I’m still familiar with the knowledge.

In China,we won’t write HCL as a liquid in Formula.

That is why I asked here,maybe that is right in Australia.

The reason why I asked is to double check if the knowledge I learnt in China is all good in Australia.

Please don’t focus on if that is important on Gamsat.

We just talk the formula itself.

If it should be aqueous,then just say I think we made a mistake.it should be aqueous other than liquid.

And i will know what I learnt in China is still same as here.

I don’t wanna focus on if the textbook is wrong.

The only thing I wanna know if my knowledge learnt in China is still same as here!

The book is correct.

Like many other molecules, HCl can be aqueous HCl(aq) which means that it is the form that is already associated with water, but it can also be in other forms (phases) depending on the temperature, pressure and purity (the following are all pure HCl, not associated with water in these forms):

solid: HCl(s)

liquid: HCl(l)

gas: HCl(g)
