The question asks for highest profit for "types of businesses" not for a particular type of business. This is interpreted as: "what is the highest profit for a collective group of businesses". For China, whilst ONE of the Oil companies has the highest profit of all the companies at 19.94, the COLLECTIVE profits of the Oil companies is only 27.37. The Banking businesses tops this at 33.18, and is the highest type of profit for all of China.

Is this a correct interpretation of the question? If so, perhaps it needs to be reworded

Sum of all banking in China gives the biggest number, and sum of all autos in Japan gives the biggest number. Or did I miss something?

I had the same thought process! Can someone please clarify why the answer is C and not D?
